Feel confident while getting fit.

Active wear is becoming the center of attention in the fashion world. I’ve never seen fitness fashion get so much attention than in recent years, with well known designers launching active wear lines. Let’s talk about some of the hottest fitness fashion trends and which ones you need to try.

Have you ever experienced a surge of confidence from a new outfit? Perhaps you feel more driven or motivated to achieve your goals. This feeling is so important when it comes to staying on track with fitness. The proper attire can also help you be more active. Supportive athletic shoes, as well as apparel that fits well, can help put you in the right mind to be more active. A new outfit could be just the pick-me-up you need to hit the gym hard.

If you think about it, fitness is an industry that runs on trends much like fashion. Yes, there are classic exercises, just like you have a classic LBD (little black dress). But you also have trends like barre workouts, barefoot running, and spinning in a nightclub-like environment. With all these trends, it makes sense that fitness fashions and accessories have become the new must-have.

There are so many new trends to try, so let me tell you which ones are here to stay.

Patterned Leggings

Fashion designers are picking up on the trend that more and more people are wearing casual clothes, and have answered with wearable active wear. In my neighborhood, it’s very common to see women running around in their fitness clothes that can be mistaken for weekend wear. This look usually consists of leggings paired with a casual tank top or shirt. Trends to look out for with this look are:

–  Printed leggings: Floral, geometric shapes and colorful patterns are where it’s at.
–  Sparkly leggings: I’ve been seeing more sequins and glitter on active wear than ever before.
–  Textured leggings: Another legging trend is mixing multiple fabrics together to get textured leggings.

I’ve seen panels of mesh on some, which really help to prevent overheating. Look for mesh panels behind your knees to be on trend and help your body regulate it’s temperature.

The main thing to keep in mind when choosing new leggings is that the fabric must be breathable and sit comfortably on your skin.

Pullovers with Pockets

It’s chilly in some parts of the world to the point where a good cardio workout won’t help take the chill away. A pullover is just what you need to stay warm and functional in the cold. New fitness fashion trends are comprised with pullovers with plenty of pockets and high-tech features. Who wants to carry around their mobile devices, cards and keys in their hands? Look for a pullover with multiple pockets to store your belongings. Arm pockets are increasingly popular, as you can keep your music player in reach but out of the way.

Other elements to look for:
– Thumbholes to prevent wind from blowing up your arms.
– Quick-dry fabric in the armpit area. (That way you can leave the gym looking fabulous.)

Headbands

This is a fitness fashion trend that comes and goes. I’ll see women pull their hair back with headbands for a few years, and then all of the sudden the headbands disappear. Well, they’re back and improved. Headbands are not only functional for keeping hair off your face…

– For winter workouts, try fleece headbands to keep you warm in the winter chill.
– If you like wider headbands, then look for absorbent fabrics or designs that include wicking.
– I personally love a headband with a double strap to really secure hair off my face (and stop it slowing inching backwards during my workout).

Fitness Gadgets

It seems like everywhere I look, people are wearing some sort of fitness gadget. Whether it’s a pedometer or a wristband that keeps track of your fitness activities, they’re everywhere.

A lot of phones nowadays also include health tracking information. You know I’m a big fan of keeping a fitness journal, or using fitness gadgets to help you stay on top of your fitness definitely works for some people.
